The Notice we received from the Planning Commission stated "a 1.5-acre ADDITION TO Hansen Park to be rezoned from R4B to Public Land." We applauded that rezoning, until we read that the Council planned all along to make the property part of Hickory Way Apartments. Mr. Smith called it "a no brainer." We disagree entirely. It is not a no brainer. Adding the land to Hansen Park is the no brainer. We live directly opposite. Many neighbors agree with us, and are as upset as we are that the Notice said absolutely nothing about selling it to Avalon. Especially because the owner sought to sell it as city park. When is the next hearing regarding 1200 S. Maple? We and our neighbors will be there. And would very much appreciate a Notice of Public Hearing that includes a specific sentence about the rezoned "Public Land" may not be added to Hansen Park, but sold to Avalon. A meeting location in our neighborhood would also be appreciated! Dicken School perhaps? Thank you.
