Stop pretending to court the general public to serve on Boards and Commissions, when there is no clear path to do so. I oppose these appointments not because the people serving are doing a poor job (well, maybe a few of them are) but because 14 of 16 ( 7/8 ) of this weeks appointments are REappointments. Of the list read at last weeks meeting 35/40 were REappointments. And of those remaining 2 up this week, they are going to people who are politically connected. (School Board & SPARK) Where is the opportunity?
One of the reasons we are always spending so much on outside consultants seems to be that we are not engaging the community fully and properly, instead, we are making political appointments. We have to change this culture.
