On behalf of the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County, I would like to formally voice our support for the current Resolution for County Millage Rebate Use, which is on the October 7th City Council meeting agenda as Item DC-2.

The Shelter supports the allocation of the millage rebate funding towards supportive services in affordable housing because this annual investment is critical to maintaining high-quality, affordable and supportive housing. Without these funds, over 650 households would not receive the critical supportive services they need to permanently maintain their housing and thrive in our community.

We urge you to pass this resolution.

    Thank you,

    Dan Kelly, MSW
    Shelter Association of Washtenaw County
    Executive Director

As a resident of Ann Arbor since 1993 and a member of the Ann Arbor Housing Commission (AAHC) for nearly 5 years, I would like to formally voice my support for the current Resolution for County Millage Rebate Use, which is on the October 7th City Council meeting agenda as Item DC-2. It is important to know that it would cost the AAHC/City 3 – 5 times more to hire City staff to do this work. City staff salaries and benefits are more expensive, non-profits raise funds and leverage additional resources, and utilize volunteers. The AAHC does not have sufficient rent revenue or HUD funds to hire additional staff to do the work our nonprofits do.
