DC-3 22-0244 Resolution to Provide a Report on the Sixty-Eight Parcel of Land in the Proposed TC1 Zoning District including Ownership and Valuation Information
This resolution is essentially a request to use staff time and resources to create a set of facts that will be used by various local anti-development activists to allege--baselessly, corrosively--that there is something nefarious about upzoning this area of the city. If CM Griswold is concerned that creating TC1 zoning in this district may preferentially enrich a certain set of property owners, I recommend that she support the expansion of TC1 zoning in other areas of the city immediately.
This is a highly unusual request, as the City Administrator has noted. Please don’t chase conspiracy theories. TC-1 has been years in the making, and this area makes a lot of sense to be zoned as such. If you’re worried about this applying too narrowly, then I suggest applying the zoning to the W. Stadium, Packard, Washtenaw, and Plymouth corridors as well.
