I strongly support adopting this new ordinance to reduce light pollution. In addition to protecting a shared resource, access to the beauty of our night skies, the ordinance is practical (shown to be reasonable to implement), economical (savings on energy bills as well as preventing installation of unneeded light fixtures), and environmentally conscience (reduces carbon footprint in passive use areas as well as protecting access to night skies). This ordinance was developed thoughtfully with the input of many stakeholders and reflects best practice as adopted by many communities. I believe the ordinance will significantly improve the quality of life for citizens of our community and many of these citizens support this initiative.
