This resolution represents an attempt to subsidize heavy water usage by a tiny slice of rate-payers - wealthy homeowners with swimming pools, huge lawns, etc. - on the backs of all the other rate-payers in the city. Those council members who have expressed confusion or taken umbrage at being labeled "conservative" need look no further than regressive proposals like this. Please vote no.
Don't raise my water rates. This resolution would *increase* water rates on the majority of water users (who use under 42CCF); while giving a huge break to water users over 44CCF and a GIGANTIC discount to the 1% of users who are almost exclusively homeowners of very expensive homes on very large lots that they water using our municipal water. This is an egregiously regressive proposal. Please vote no.
