I am in full support of this resolution and urge council to pass it asap. Ann Arbor has always followed the science and led the way in progressive policies. We made history in 1972 by being the first city to decriminalize cannabis and now, almost 50 years later, we have an opportunity to do the same with entheogenic plants. This is just another step towards a safer, happier, and healthier city for its residents. Make your constituents proud.

I support entheogenic plants and fungi being decriminalized in Ann Arbor because their use is a natural and effective way to handle many physical and mental ailments. They are a great alternative to pharmaceuticals which can have damaging side effects for many individuals. I believe every individual has a basic right to use plants and other natural medicines for their body at their own discretion.

I support this resolution very strongly, I have symptomatic PTSD and see the head way that psychologists are making in the past few years in treating this and mental problems like addiction, depression and anxiety. I also see how we have been plagued with this old uneducated and misleading way of categorizing these plants along side substances like crack and heroine and would have made this same head way in the treatment of The mind decades ago. We need to break these cultured chains that have suppressed our growth as human beings and be the generation who brings in this monumental change that WILL help millions. We need to give the power of freedom of personal spirituality back to the people whos ancestors have used these for millions of years. Stop making us hide stop suppressing our growth, please give us this place as sanctuary and as a stepping stone for the future. 🙏🙏

I fully support this resolution for decriminalization of entheogenic plants. These plants have been shown to offer therapeutics benefits such as alleviating symptoms of depression, drug addiction and other mental health illnesses. They’ve proven themselves to be aides in medicine and neuroscience. Let’s give people a choice, to be able to use holistic remedies to heal their bodies and minds. Not just pharmaceutical drugs that come with many harsh side effects. This isn’t the time to look into the past. We need to look towards the future. Legalize nature.

I fully support this resolution. We need to be leaders in moving our society forward. As others have stated, these drugs/plants/medicines have great healing properties. It is unconscionable that we as a society outlaw these medicines. Fear and moral panic are what got these things made illegal in the first place; please don't let that spirit continue to reign! Let us stand on the right side of history and be examples for those who would follow us!

I fully support this resolution for decriminalization of entheogenic plants. They have helped me in the past when traditional medicine has failed. With the current stigma surrounding their use and the fear of being arrested, many people continue to suffer with mental health issues like depression, anxiety and PTSD when they could be helped by plant based medicine.

As a clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and small business owner in Ann Arbor, I strongly support the decriminalization of entheogenic plants. The research strongly supports the healing property of these plants and it is my professional opinion that they will be utilized within the mental health profession widely within years. Ann Arbor should continue to be leaders in this, and decriminalize these healing, medicinal, and nourishing plants.

I am fully in support of the decriminalization of entheogentic plants for the city of Ann Arbor. These plants have shown promise to aid those suffering from various mental health issues, without the short or long term side effects associated with many pharmaceutical drugs or the need for chronic use. Most of these plants could also be argued to be as harmless in many ways as plants like cannabis, which the city had decriminalized decades before medical or recreational legalization, with little to no negative impact on the community. These plants could be effectively integrated into the community in a similar way, and assist many in need of mental health aid.

I am fully in favor of and support the decriminalization of entheogenic plants for the city of Ann Arbor. Being a resident here for over a decade I have seen it assist and save the lives of so many suffering (especially individuals those with PTSD and sexual abuse trauma). The time is now - help save lives and end all the suicide and pain with the promise that these plants offer a new hopeful future and safer healing alternative.

As a Michigan resident I approve. I fully support the resolution to decriminalize entheogenic plants in the city of Ann Arbor. With this resolution entheogenic plants would be the lowest law enforcement priority.

I fully support the resolution to decriminalize entheogenic plants in the city of Ann Arbor. With this resolution entheogenic plants would be the lowest law enforcement priority. Our city's residents won’t be arrested for these substances and police resources won’t be wasted. This is a win-win. The plant medicines in this resolution are less harmful to the body than other medicines, both legal and illegal. I urge city council and the mayor to vote yes on this resolution....the time is now!

People using plants for food and medicine is as natural and normal as it gets. As research mounts showing entheogens as promising medicines to treat the worst of our human ailments, the law is not going to be able to stop people from pursuing them. The only control the law currently has over this situation is to decide how severe the punishment will be if someone gets caught. Let's give people the freedom to choose for themselves which plants go into their bodies and which do not.

I am very much so in support of this resolution. For me psilocybin mushrooms were a critical part of overcoming a four year long heroin addiction. I have also heard many firsthand accounts of people overcoming their own addictions and serious traumas using various entheogens. These medicines are extremely effective and safe and should absolutely be decriminalized.

I wholeheartedly support this resolution. Entheogenic plans are not only known to be extremely safe, but also have a growing mountain of scientific evidence showing that they can be helpful. In the midst of a mental health crisis in our society—that is now being exacerbated by COVID-19, racial tensions, and a contentious presidential election—the decriminalization of these plants can do a great deal of good. This is a resolution that people of all political orientations should be able to get behind.
