Governing in a Pandemic: What roles do STRs play in the citizens of Ann Arbor during COVID19 and eliminating STRs hurts the families across Ann Arbor.

Non-owner occupied STRs played a critical role at the onset of the pandemic, housing medical personnel from outside areas to help at the hospital, student/family coming home from overseas who needed to quarantine, and UofM students who could not return back to their homes.

Now we are hosting children who are coming home to visit their parents and need to stay in a separate location - and vice-versa, parents coming to see their children and grandchildren. Experts agree STRs are safer than hotels. Visiting family in a safe way is supported by STRs during COVID. A2 families need council's support

In the future, if UofM closes the dorms - the need for STRs will be enormous. Not all students can go home safely. Many have to stay in A2 for work or other - they need council's support

During a pandemic is not the time to eliminate STRs
